For students
For upper-secondary students who want to investigate a question, test an idea, build a solution or present a project they have worked on.
Ungt vísindafólk is Iceland’s national competition for upper-secondary students who want to develop research projects, present their ideas, and take part in a young science and innovation community.
The competition gives students an opportunity to develop their own research project, present their results and receive feedback from people with experience in science, research and innovation.
For upper-secondary students who want to investigate a question, test an idea, build a solution or present a project they have worked on.
Projects can relate to natural sciences, social sciences, technology, environment, health, design, mathematics or computer science.
Winning projects may have the opportunity to take part in the European Union Contest for Young Scientists, EUCYS.
You do not need to invent something completely new. What matters is that you can explain what you want to investigate, how you plan to do it, and what your results show.
Measurements, data, interviews, comparison, analysis or experimentation.
Design, technical solution, software, device or a new way to solve a problem.
Questions about people, behaviour, schools, rights, environment or everyday life.
Start with something you want to understand, measure, test or improve.
Gather information, test a method, analyse data or build a prototype.
Explain what you did, what you learned and what could be done next.
Projects in the national competition can open a path to EUCYS and an international science community.
A project in Ungt vísindafólk can become a first step toward the European Union Contest for Young Scientists, where young people present their research, meet peers and take part in an international science community.
